Can I Get Free Pregnancy Testing?

At the Southern Ohio Pregnancy Center, you can receive pregnancy testing free of charge. Your visit and test results remain entirely confidential whether you continue with us or not.

Pregnancy tests are taken on-site in a private setting, and we will review the results during your appointment.

How Does A Pregnancy Test Work?

A urine pregnancy test detects the presence of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). This hormone is produced right after a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of a woman’s uterus and is only found in urine if a woman is pregnant.

When Should I Take A Pregnancy Test?

Although the hCG hormone builds rapidly in your body, it takes several days to become detectable by a pregnancy test. We recommend waiting to test until after you expect your period to begin.

If your period is pretty regular, you can take a pregnancy test the day after it should have started. If your monthly cycle is irregular, wait 3 or 4 days after you thought it should start.

Isn’t a Home Pregnancy Test Enough?

Research shows up to 5% of home tests return false negative results. Plus, some women don’t follow the instructions correctly and get inaccurate results.

What If The Test Is Positive?

A positive pregnancy test is an indication of a likely pregnancy. An ultrasound helps verify if your pregnancy is viable (growing with a detectable heartbeat) or if you have had a miscarriage.
